Revolutionizing
Composites Manufacturing
We are Hybron (formerly BladeX Technologies), a composite manufacturing company that has developed a new method of economically producing complex, high-performance composite parts.
The First
Engine-Tested Composite Compressor Blades
We accomplished something that has never been done before with composites: we manufactured and tested our first composite compressor blades in a GE J79 fighter jet engine! This test included composite blades with the same geometry as the original metal blades (4), as well as composite blades with significant material removed from the bottom of the airfoil (16). We ran our blades at full operating condition and overspeed (7600 RPM). The tips of our blades reached Mach 0.9, and our parts showed no signs of structural issues from the tests, proving that our composite blades have incredible potential to improve airfoil profiles and efficiency while reducing weight and increasing stability.
Key Benefits
Enables high-performance complex geometries
10-100x faster than traditional manufacturing
Low cost (cost-competitive with metals) due to faster cycle times and lower upfront costs
Unparalleled internal part quality, far exceeding Aerospace standards
2x the strength of traditional composite layups over tight curvatures and thickness changes
3x the strength-to-weight ratio of aerospace-grade Titanium
1/5 the density of steel
395C Tg
